Why ceramic coat a new RAM truck?
Trucks make the practical benefit of ceramic coating easy to understand.
There is simply a lot of exterior surface area to maintain.
A RAM 1500 can see bugs, road film, salt, mud, hard water and plenty of routine washing whether it is being used for work, commuting, towing or family duty.
Ceramic coating does not stop those things from reaching the truck.
It creates a durable protective surface that can make them easier to clean while improving gloss and reducing the need for repeated traditional waxing.
Dirt and normal contamination generally release more easily from a properly maintained coated surface.
Proper polishing followed by ceramic coating can create a cleaner, deeper finished appearance.
The coating adds a protective layer over the clear coat for environmental contamination to interact with first.
Ceramic coating replaces the repeated traditional wax cycle with a much more durable protection system.
It does not stop rock chips, dents, every scratch or every possible water spot. It is a protective coating designed to make normal ownership easier.
Black trucks make preparation quality very easy to judge.
Several of my RAM 1500 projects are black trucks, including Diamond Black examples.
Black paint can look exceptional when properly polished and coated, but it also makes haze, swirl marks and poor preparation easier to see.
That is why I would never approach a black RAM by simply washing it and wiping ceramic coating over whatever condition the paint happens to be in.

Black RAM 1500 Full Exterior Ceramic Coating
This black 2026 RAM 1500 received a 5-year ceramic coating across the full exterior.
Rather than protecting only the painted body panels, the package extends ceramic protection to exterior glass, wheel faces, plastics and trim.
On a truck with this much exterior area, full-exterior coating creates a more complete maintenance package rather than leaving several regularly cleaned surfaces untreated.
Debadge + Paint Correction + Ceramic Coating
This project went beyond the normal coating preparation process.
The RAM was debadged and received additional paint correction before the ceramic coating was installed.
It is a useful example of how correction can be added when the actual truck warrants more work.

Every new RAM gets polished before ceramic coating.
Polish everything. Correct what needs correction.
That distinction matters because polishing and paint correction are not interchangeable terms.
The included preparation polish is standard. Additional correction depends on what the actual paint needs and what you want improved.
Preparation Polish
Every painted RAM I coat receives a buffer-applied prep polish before coating.
It refines the finish, addresses light haze and gives me the consistent prepared surface I want before final panel cleaning and coating.
Paint Correction
Additional correction is used when swirl marks, scratches, haze or other visible defects are worth improving beyond the included polish.
The 2026 debadged RAM on this page is a real example of a truck where additional correction was part of the job.
Manufacturing, transportation, dealership handling, washing and storage all occur before delivery. That is why I inspect the paint itself rather than assuming perfect condition because the truck is new.
What happens before ceramic coating touches your RAM.
Remove normal dirt, traffic film and surface grime.
Address iron and appropriate embedded contamination.
Remove remaining bonded contamination.
Evaluate the finish under dedicated lighting.
Professionally polish every painted surface being coated.
Address additional defects only when worthwhile.
Remove polishing oils and residue.
Install coating on the surfaces included in the package.
Inspect the finished truck before completion.
Want a cleaner RAM before the coating goes on?
One of the 2026 RAM trucks shown on this page was debadged before paint correction and ceramic coating.
When debadging is something you already want, completing it before the final paint preparation and coating installation makes far more sense than removing emblems after those surfaces have been coated.
RAM 1500 is where my proof is deepest.
The same preparation standards can be applied to other eligible new RAM trucks, but I would rather be transparent about where my actual portfolio is strongest.

Does RAM use one universal dealer ceramic coating?
Do not assume every RAM dealership is selling the exact same ceramic coating or paint-protection package.
Dealer-added protection can vary by dealership, installer and third-party product.
If protection is being offered during the truck purchase, ask what the actual product is and how the RAM will be prepared before it is installed.
