Why ceramic coat a new Audi?
The goal is not to make an Audi indestructible.
Ceramic coating is a long-term surface protection product designed to make normal ownership easier.
It adds a protective layer over the clear coat, increases gloss, creates strong hydrophobic behavior and improves resistance to normal environmental contamination.
Bugs, road film, salt and dirt still reach the vehicle, but they are generally easier to remove during proper washing.
That benefit applies whether you drive a daily-use Q5, an A5, a luxury S8 or a performance-focused RS model.
Normal contamination generally releases more easily during proper washing.
Proper polishing and ceramic coating can noticeably refine the finished appearance.
Environmental contamination interacts with the coating before reaching the clear coat underneath.
Ceramic coating replaces the need to repeatedly apply traditional wax as the primary exterior protection.
It also does not stop rock chips, prevent dents or make the vehicle immune to water spots. It is surface protection, not physical impact protection.

Audi RS3 Ceramic Coating
This 2026 Audi RS3 received an 8-year ceramic coating across the full exterior through my Appleton-area studio.
Full-exterior protection goes beyond the painted panels and includes all exterior glass, wheel faces, plastics and trim.
The RS3 is also a strong example of why I would rather show actual completed vehicles than use manufacturer photography to suggest experience.
Audi S8 Ceramic Coating
The S8 sits at a very different end of the Audi lineup from the RS3, but the preparation standards remain the same.
It was professionally prepared and ceramic coated through my studio as a new-car paint-protection installation.
Having both vehicles represented here gives Audi owners real examples across two very different premium performance cars.

Higher-performance Audi models do not need exaggerated coating claims.
They need careful preparation and realistic expectations.
An RS3, S3, S5, S8 or other performance-oriented Audi is still a painted vehicle that needs proper inspection, polishing and preparation before coating.
I do not change the fundamentals because the badge has an S or RS in front of it.
Every painted Audi gets polished before coating.
Polishing and paint correction are not interchangeable.
Every painted surface being coated receives a professional prep polish. Additional correction is only used when the actual Audi has defects worth addressing.
Preparation Polish
Every painted Audi being ceramic coated receives a buffer-applied preparation polish.
It refines the finish and creates the consistent surface I want before final panel preparation and coating.
Paint Correction
Additional correction is used when swirl marks, scratches, haze or other visible defects are worth improving beyond the normal prep polish.
New vehicle does not automatically mean correction is needed.
Manufacturing, transportation, storage, dealership handling and washing all happen before delivery. I inspect the actual paint under proper lighting rather than assuming its condition.
What happens before the coating goes on.
Remove dirt and road film.
Address iron and appropriate contamination.
Remove remaining bonded contamination.
Evaluate the finish under dedicated lighting.
Polish every painted surface being coated.
Address additional defects only when worthwhile.
Remove polishing residue and oils.
Install coating on the selected surfaces.
Inspect the finished Audi before completion.

Does a new Audi already have ceramic coating?
Do not assume it does unless you have documentation showing exactly what was installed.
A dealership can offer paint protection, ceramic protection or another appearance package without that automatically meaning every new Audi receives the same product.
The important questions are what product is being installed, who is applying it and how the Audi is being prepared first.
