Undrdog built much of its following around protective coatings that are forgiving to install, highly hydrophobic and sold without the certification gates or inflated hardness claims common throughout the ceramic coating industry.

What stands out about Undrdog?
HCC is now the flagship.
HCC uses Undrdog's newer hybrid coating chemistry and sits above Pro and Pro Plus in the current product lineup.
Undrdog deliberately stopped putting fixed years on coatings.
The manufacturer currently says preparation, climate, mileage, washing and maintenance make one universal lifespan impossible to guarantee.
Installers can still build their own long-term packages.
Coatings by the Bay backs Pro as our 5-year package and HCC as our 8-year package under our own installation and support structure.
Installation ease is a recurring owner theme.
Pro's unusually long working window has made it popular with both professional installers and experienced DIY users.
Undrdog without the warranty confusion
What do actual Undrdog users report?
Most of the long-term independent discussion currently centers on Undrdog Pro because HCC is a much newer product.
These experiences are anecdotal. Preparation, environment, maintenance and application quality can all change the result.
Multiple Pro applications still performing well after a year
One independent user applied Undrdog Pro to their own car and three friends' vehicles and reported that the coatings were still doing well roughly one year later.
Ease of installation and straightforward maintenance were the biggest positives in the owner's follow-up.
One detailer switched their coating offering to Undrdog
A professional installer reported moving primarily to Pro and Pro Plus after using the products.
The installer specifically praised application ease, gloss, slickness and how coated vehicles behaved during later washes.
Installer reported years of Undrdog use without problems
In a Modesta versus Undrdog discussion, one installer reported using Undrdog for almost five years without a significant issue.
Another installer in the same discussion said they had moved from System X to Undrdog with no complaints.
Pro is repeatedly described as unusually forgiving
Independent coating discussions repeatedly identify Pro as one of the easier traditional bottled coatings to apply.
The 7 to 10-minute working window gives installers significantly more time to level the coating than many quick-flashing formulas.
Installer preferred HCC after moving from Pro Plus
One professional user reported switching from Pro Plus to HCC and described HCC as easier to install and noticeably slicker.
The installer also reported vehicles reaching approximately one year while still showing strong water behavior.
HCC still lacks the long field history of older coatings
Other experienced detailers have correctly pointed out that HCC is still too new to have five, eight or ten years of independent owner data behind it.
That does not demonstrate poor performance. It simply means long-term service promises currently rely more heavily on the installer standing behind the installation.
The most consistent praise is about usability, gloss and maintenance.
Pro has a much longer independent history than HCC and repeatedly earns praise for application ease and reliable water behavior.
HCC's early feedback is encouraging, but an 8-year service term cannot honestly be presented as eight years of existing HCC field data.
That is why our own long-term package is supported by the installation process and our Peace of Mind Promise rather than pretending the bottle itself guarantees a specific number of years.
Why do we use HCC for our 8-year package?
HCC is Undrdog's current flagship and the product we choose when a Coatings by the Bay client upgrades beyond our standard 5-year package.
HCC is a high-solids hybrid coating built around a newer resin structure than the original Undrdog Pro formula.
Undrdog positions HCC for paint, glass, metal, gelcoat, vinyl, PPF and additional smooth exterior surfaces rather than limiting it to automotive clear coat.
It is also currently the most expensive general-purpose coating in the Undrdog automotive lineup.
Coatings by the Bay uses HCC as the coating component of our 8-year service package.
That does not mean Undrdog prints “8 Years” on HCC. It does not. The eight-year term is our service structure, backed by our preparation standards, inspection program and Peace of Mind Promise.
That distinction is important because it tells you who is actually standing behind the service: us.
Why do we still use Pro for our 5-year package?
Newer does not automatically make an older coating obsolete.
Undrdog Pro uses a blend built around silicone, PTFE and paraffin and became well known for its slow 7 to 10-minute flash window.
That long working time makes it unusually forgiving during installation and gives the installer time to level the entire coating carefully before residue begins becoming difficult to remove.
We have extensive experience installing Pro and know how it behaves during installation, curing, Wisconsin winters and later maintenance.
HCC uses different hybrid chemistry and sits above it in our service lineup, but Pro remains the product we trust for the majority of our 5-year installations.
This is exactly why we tell customers to trust the process rather than shopping exclusively by whichever coating was released most recently.

Undrdog Pro
Every package includes a full exterior detail, iron removal, clay-bar decontamination, panel wipe and buffer-applied prep polish. Full Exterior adds ceramic protection to all exterior glass, rims, plastics and trim.
Undrdog HCC
The current 8-year option is a flat $300 upgrade regardless of vehicle size. The preparation and package scope remain the same; HCC replaces Pro as the paint-protection coating.
Nathan's Auto Care
Nathan's Level 1
Published scope includes decontamination, paint-enhancement polish, Pro on paint and bodywork, exterior plastics, lights and an express interior detail.
Nathan's Level 2
The published Level 2 package adds one-step correction, wheel-face coating and windshield coating.
Nathan's Level 3
The Level 3 menu includes one-step correction, Pro Plus, wheels removed and coated, calipers, windshield, plastics, lights and engine-bay cleaning.
Nathan's uses Pro and Pro Plus but builds different preparation, surface coverage and warranty structures around them.
Its published warranty requires a $100 to $150 maintenance wash every 6 to 12 months. Coatings by the Bay uses its own Peace of Mind Promise and annual inspection structure instead.
The bottle is only one part of an Undrdog coating package.
How can we offer 5-year and 8-year packages when Undrdog does not print years on the bottle?
Because the service term comes from the installer standing behind the installation, not from pretending one laboratory number can predict exactly how every vehicle will age.
Our Pro package
Coatings by the Bay installs Undrdog Pro as our standard 5-year ceramic coating package.
Our HCC package
HCC is the coating used when a client selects our 8-year ceramic coating upgrade.
Undrdog's bottle
Undrdog currently does not print a fixed lifespan year on HCC, Pro or Pro Plus.
We would rather put our name behind the installation than hide behind the manufacturer.
Our promise is intentionally written in plain English rather than sending a customer through a manufacturer claims department.
The craftsmanship of the coating is supported for the term of the selected Coatings by the Bay package when the vehicle is maintained according to our straightforward requirements.
Annual inspections give us the opportunity to remove contamination, evaluate the coating and apply a ceramic topper before minor maintenance issues become major ones.
Scratches, rock chips and dents are still physical damage and are not what ceramic coating is designed to stop.

Ceramic coating helps with chemical exposure, contamination, maintenance and gloss. It is not an impact barrier.
A coating can reduce surface friction and make safe washing easier, which can indirectly reduce wash-induced marring.
It cannot stop a rock traveling at highway speed, a shopping cart, a key or a branch from physically damaging the paint.
If impact protection is the goal, compare ceramic coating with paint protection film before paying for a coating expecting it to solve the wrong problem.
Strong hydrophobics do not eliminate hard-water minerals.
Undrdog coatings are known for aggressive water behavior, but water beading and water-spot prevention are not the same thing.
Calcium, magnesium and other minerals can still remain behind when hard water evaporates on a coated surface.
Undrdog even sells a dedicated Water Spot Remover because coated vehicles still need mineral contamination managed correctly.

What happens before we apply Pro or HCC?
Exterior detail
The vehicle is thoroughly cleaned so loose dirt, road film and environmental contamination are removed before paint preparation.
Iron removal and clay-bar decontamination
Embedded iron and bonded contamination are removed so the coating is bonding to properly prepared paint rather than debris sitting above it.
Buffer-applied prep polish
Every package includes a prep polish to improve clarity and create a consistent surface for coating.
Additional correction is only recommended when visible defects make the extra work worthwhile. See the complete paint correction guide .
Panel wipe
Polishing oils and remaining residues are removed before application so the coating has a clean surface to bond with.
Pro or HCC application
The exact application process changes with the coating. Pro's long working window and HCC's newer flash behavior are handled according to the product rather than one generic coating routine.
Multi-light inspection and controlled cure
The vehicle is inspected from multiple angles and under multiple light sources to identify excess coating, smearing or high spots before delivery.
Looking for an Undrdog installer in Wisconsin?
You do not need to choose a shop simply because it has access to the bottle.
Undrdog does not currently require installers to complete a certification program before purchasing Pro, Pro Plus or HCC.
That is not inherently good or bad. It simply makes the actual installer's experience more important.

Long-term coating performance still depends on how the vehicle is washed, dried and decontaminated.

Frequency depends on season and use, but long periods of road-film accumulation make any coating harder to maintain.
Clean microfiber wash media and safe contact washing reduce unnecessary wash-induced marring.
Repeated abrasive washing can scratch the clear coat and coating regardless of which Undrdog product is installed.
Do not repeatedly allow hard water to evaporate on the paint simply because the surface beads aggressively.
Our annual inspection removes contamination, evaluates coating condition and includes a ceramic topper.

That does not mean another reputable coating is bad. CARPRO, Opti-Coat, IGL, FEYNLAB, Modesta, Kamikaze and other established systems can all perform extremely well when installed correctly.
