It All Starts with a Meticulous Detail!
A wash, as part of the exterior detail, involves thoroughly cleaning the vehicle’s surface to remove dirt, dust, and contaminants. It typically starts with rinsing the car to loosen debris, followed by using a pH-neutral soap and soft mitts to hand wash the entire exterior. The process ensures all visible areas, including the wheels, tires, and hard-to-reach spots, are cleaned, leaving the surface ready for further treatment; like a ceramic coating.
Chemical decontamination uses cleaners to remove embedded contaminants from the vehicle’s surface.
Clay bar / clay mitt treatment removes surface contaminants and smooths the vehicle’s finish.

What About Paint Correction with Ceramic Coating?
At Coatings by the Bay we do things a bit differently. We NEVER force paint correction – it is your vehicle not ours! We do however like to explain the process and show potential pricing to keep with our goal of absolute transparency.
Our Process for Paint Correction
On the day of your appointment we will wash, decontaminate and dry your vehicle. This removes any wax or sealant on the surface. We then use a specialized light to inspect the current condition of your vehicle’s paint. Once we have taken photos, we will apply a polish (included) to one section and a single step of correction to another section (upgrade). We will send photos of all 3 (original, polish and single step correction) to you and let you make the decision. Again – NEVER forced to upgrade. We just present options.
What to Expect with Paint Correction
For a single step of correction you could expect 80%+ of the defects removed from your clear coat. 99% of the people who opt for additional correction only utilize a single step. We do have more advanced options – but these are RARELY purchased.
Cost to Add Paint Correction
Paint correction pricing is strictly based on the size of the vehicle. It will range from about $400 to $700; Coupe to Truck respectively.

How Much Does Ceramic Coating Installation Cost?
Our 5 year ceramic coating package starts at $875 and ranges up to $1095 depending on vehicle size. For Mobile installation we charge a small flat fee of $95 for up to 150 miles of travel from 54914. This radius covers Milwaukee, Madison, Stevens Point, Green Bay, Sheyboygan and More!

How Long Does Installation Take?
We typically arrive just before 8 and the process will be completed in a single day. If base package only; by lunch we have completed installation. The vehicle will need to cure for 24 hours before driving / getting wet.
What if it Rains or Snows?
We understand weather / winters in Wisconsin can be tricky. If it would be a danger to bring the vehicle we do offer to reschedule at no cost. If it is supposed to rain or snow on your pick-up date we do our best to store until a better day, but this may not always be available as space is limited.
Does Coatings by the Bay Offer Detailing?
Coatings by the Bay does not offer General Detailing Services. Strictly installation and maintenance of Paint Protection Coatings.
Is My Vehicle Safe / Are You Insured?
Absolutely. We carry 1M general liabilkity and 1M garage keepers liability. Should your vehicle be valued higher than this insurance; we will be happy to carry a temporary rider to serve you. All vehicles are stored indoors and secured through their entire stay.
